What is the Teacher Transfer Process?

The Teacher Transfer Process is the mechanism by which eligible employees apply for lateral transfer opportunities for which they are qualified, at schools of their choosing.

Who may participate in the Teacher Transfer Process?

Full-time employees occupying the following job classifications may participate in the Teacher Transfer Process:

  • Teachers

  • Coordinators of Assessment and Remediation (CARs)

  • Librarians

  • Innovative Learning Coaches (ILCs)

  • School Counselors

How do I apply to participate in the Teacher Transfer Process?

Employees apply by visiting the careers page and submitting an online application for school year 2026-2027 school specific vacancies and include an updated resume. Applying to a generic posting will not qualify as an application for transfer.

When may I apply?

Employees may apply for the transfer process as soon as 2026-2027 school-based vacancies are advertised. Vacancies will begin to be posted as early as January 5, 2026.

What should I consider before accepting a transfer?

Acceptance of a transfer will result in the loss of any extended responsibility stipends an employee may hold in their current school assignment. Additionally, a transfer move will cause loss of building or department seniority.

A change in contract length and/or pay grade is not considered a transfer.

Will my current principal be notified that I applied for a transfer?

Principals are required to complete a phone reference with the candidate’s current supervisor prior to submitting a hiring recommendation to Human Resources.

When does the Teacher Transfer Process end?

The Teacher Transfer Process ends on May 22, 2026.
