Family Medical Leave

  • Eligible employees may take up to 13 weeks (520 hours) of unpaid, job-protected leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) for certain family and medical reasons—such as welcoming a new child or caring for a serious health condition.

  • Because FMLA leave is unpaid, employees are required to use any available annual, sick, or personal leave during their FMLA absence. Employees may not choose to remain unpaid while paid leave balances are available.

  • Up to 26 workweeks of leave in a single 12-month period to care for a covered service member with a serious injury or illness incurred or aggravated during active military duty.
