Summer Schedule/Four-Day Work Week

The following is a detailed explanation of the impact of the 2026-27 instructional calendar on schools, which was approved by the School Board on March 27, 2025. For information related to central office, annexes and all 12-month staff, please refer to Memo COS-XX. At the discretion of their supervisor, school-based 12-month employees may telework on days that are listed as telework optional in COS-XX. For information related to adjusted summer work schedules, please refer to Memo COS-XY. 

DATES SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC: 

The following list indicates days on which individual school offices are not expected to be open to the public. Some of the dates are holidays, while others are work days for some or all staff.

*School buildings must be staffed and open to the public on Friday, September 4, 2026. Principals should determine which staff member( s) will work in the office on Friday, September 4, to ensure the building is open to the public during business hours. For any 12-month school-based employees not impacted by staffing determinations made by the Principal to ensure public access to the building, September 4 is an optional telework day.

**School buildings are open to voters on election day, it is a student holiday and a 

Professional learning day for staff. 

***Flexible staff clerical days may occur in the school building or remotely. This does not apply to 12- month employees.

SUMMER TELEWORK DAYS (WHERE APPLICABLE) 

Staff may have the option to telework one day per week during summer office hours, subject to approval from their supervisor. Dates should be coordinated with the department supervisor to ensure that departments/offices are covered. 

SPECIAL NOTES: 

*The central office and annexes are closed to the public from December 21, 2026 - January 1, 2027. December 21- 25, December 31, and January 1 are non-work days.

Employees may work in person, telework, or take leave December 28, 29 and 30, 2026.

** The central office is closed to the public from March 29 - April 2, 2027. These are employee workdays for 12-month employees. During spring break, employees may work in person or telework March 29-30, employees will either need to take leave or work in person March 31 - April 2, 2027.

• All offices will be open on election day, Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
• All offices will close at noon on Wednesday, November 25, 2026.
• Professional learning days (September 28, November 3 and February 16) are not optional telework days. Professional learning will be conducted in-person on those days.
